A Franklin Park, Ill. small business owner recently received a letter from President Obama and a phone call from Illinois State Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias.
Joe Gapastione, owner of Al and Joe's Deli, was having problems getting a loan to build a second location for his sandwich shop. Frustrated, he contacted local elected officials and government, but still wasn't able to get any help.
After some media coverage, Gapastione received a letter from the White House, directing him to several Small Business Association Web sites. Then Senate candidate Giannoulias phoned the deli owner and sent representatives from his office to explain financing options for small business owners.
The second Al and Joe's Deli will be built in the Crystal Lake Chicago suburb.
